Would you like to communicate in American Sign Language at home, school, work, or in the community? This beginning course in American Sign Language concentrates on basic fingerspelling and signs allowing for simple communication. An emphasis on deaf culture is also included. Rochester has the highest per capita population of deaf or hard-of-hearing adults under age 65 in the nation! Gain valuable skills and knowledge that could lead to improved social interactions and increased opportunities. Your instructor teaches English at NTID/RIT and was an Interpreter for the Deaf at Monroe #1 BOCES for thirty years. He graduated from University at Buffalo (B.S.) and SUNY at Geneseo (M.S.).
