A wrestling club for youth in grades 1-6. Led by a dedicated coaching staff and assisted by members of the Brighton Varsity wrestling team, this club is full of challenge and excitement. Learn the basics of wrestling: positions, scoring, takedowns, escapes, reversals, and pinning combinations. Practice will focus on skill development by emphasizing techniques to improve balance, strength, and coordination. Wrestling oriented games will reinforce techniques learned. Coaches will provide an opportunity for supervised live wrestling at most practices. Your wrestler will improve their fitness level while having a lot of fun. All participants must show up Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the first week to be evaluated and placed into beginner and intermediate level groups. After the first week, beginner sessions will run on Mondays, Intermediate session will run on Fridays, and a mixed session will meet on Wednesdays.
During January and February, wrestlers will have the opportunity to compete on the Brighton Dual Meet Team and participate in local tournaments should they choose to. The club fee includes a t-shirt and tournament registrations. An individual NYWAY membership is required for insurance purposes and must be purchased separately at Individual Membership (nyway.org) ($25 fee). Scholarships are available. The club has a wrestling shoe loaner program based on availability. There is a Parent Meeting scheduled at TCMS on November 6th from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Please direct any questions to Brian Douangradty at brightonyouthwrestling@gmail.com. Link to NYWAY:
